Spring Is Sprung – And Broadway Is Ready!

Posted in Broadway at the Beach, Featured Posts

Flowering trees and azalea bushes. Soft breezes swaying giant palmetto trees. Warm sunshine and the salty scent of the ocean on the air.

It's spring in Myrtle Beach, and we've said goodbye to the chill of winter.

Spring is the time that most of us enthusiastically return to the outdoors, once again excited to enjoy strolling by festive shops, feeding the fish in Lake Broadway, or just relaxing as we watch the kids enjoy a turn on the carousel. It's also a great time to play some miniature golf at Dragon's Lair or take on the challenge of the ropes course at Soar & Explore!

Before the picnic season really gets underway, spring lets us bask in the pleasure of a meal served outdoors on a restaurant deck, or comfortably savor a snack while people-watching from a cozy bench.

At Broadway at the Beach, we welcome the longer days that spring provides and look forward to reconnecting with the many visitors who make Broadway a regular part fo their vacation plans. Thanks to you, we're the #1 tourist attraction in Myrtle Beach, and we'll keep working to delight you with new and exciting things each year you return.

Last year, we debuted The Paula Deen Store, where fans of America's favorite Southern cook can find Paula Deen cookware and cookbooks, home accessories, recipe mixes, gifts and more. In a few weeks, we'll be introducing our 2016 additions to Broadway and telling you about the plans for the year ahead.

We hope you'll plan on visiting Broadway this spring, as the longer days provide even more time to make magical memories here. Through May 26, our shops and attractions will be staying open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Come experience the fun of Broadway at the Beach in spring.

Ripley's and Hard Rock's breakfasts with the Big Bunny are the most popular events on every kid's calendar, next to Breakfast with Santa.

At Ripley's Aquarium, you'll be able to dive into a tasty bunny breakfast feast at one of two seatings. The whole family can choose to sit down with their favorite breakfast foods at 8:30 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. At each seating, there will be Easter giveaways and opportunities to take pictures with that most famous bunny of all. Adults are $19.95 and children $10.99, and admission to the Aquarium is included in the price. Reservations are requested, so call 843-916-0888, ext. 3272 and make yours today.

If your little bunnies have more "hip" than hop in them, Hard Rock Cafe is the place to go. Rockin' With The Easter Bunny is from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. that same day. Each kid will get an Easter treat and rendezvous with the rabbit in the pyramid for a buffet that has everything from scrambled eggs to biscuits with sausage gravy to French toast sticks. Everything is just $9.95 per person, and kids two and younger get to eat for free with a paying adult. Reservations are required to have all this fun, so call 843-946-0007, ext. 208.

Saturday's Easter fun will reach a colorful climax at 8 p.m. with a free fireworks extravaganza, sponsored by Helicopter Adventures. Join us and be thrilled by the exciting explosion of springtime colors over Lake Broadway as we light up the sky.

Life Is Just a Breeze When You Fly A Kite

In spring, Myrtle Beach is the place to be if you love to fly a kite. Look up from the beach on a breezy day and you're bound to see colorful kites flying overhead and happy people holding onto the strings below.

Whether March comes in as a lion or a lamb, we head for the beach where the wind blowing off the ocean lifts the kites up, up and away. But Myrtle Beach is not alone in its love for kites.

All over the world, people are declaring March as National Kite Month. Still others are picking April as the month to celebrate. And, one site on the Web even declares that the “month" runs from March 21 to May 10. Go figure.

Declaring a special month to celebrate kites is just an indication of how much people all over the world use kites for work and play. Since kites were invented more than 2000 years ago in China, they have been used for everything from science and meteorology, to generating power. Some ingenious folks have even used them to pull sleds in winter and carriages when horses weren't available. In Myrtle Beach, we fly our kites for fun and relaxation, and the sheer joy of watching them soar across the Carolina blue sky.

If you're a kite enthusiast or just want to try your hand at kite flying, one of the best resources along the Grand Strand is Klig's Kites right in Broadway at the Beach. Klig's has been a fixture at Broadway for years, and it's so popular that it's currently undergoing a renovation that will make the store bigger and even better.

When the store reopens the first of March, stop by and experience a world of wonder. From single-line kites to dual and quad line kites, to kites that do loops, figure eights, dives and many other maneuvers, there are kites for all ages of kids and adults. And, while Klig's is known for its kites, it's also a great place to find flags, gags, windsocks, windchimes, mailbox covers, sports merchandise and much, much more!

Whether you choose to celebrate your kite month in March, April or May, start the festivities at Klig's Kites. Find your fun soaring high as you take to the sky with a kite.
