TripAdvisor Says Myrtle Beach Is Nation’s Top Summer Destination

Posted in Shopping, Attractions, Dining

Do you love Myrtle Beach? Voters at the world's largest travel site just showed us some love by voting Myrtle Beach the top place to vacation for summer 2014. GoBankingRates.com got in on the action by declaring Myrtle Beach one of the nation's most affordable and popular vacation spots.

This is a great place to come to enjoy pristine beaches, awesome shopping, and great entertainment and dining.

After a day at the beach, all those other things can be found in one location — Broadway at the Beach. At specialty shops surrounding the 23-acre Lake Broadway, you'll find everything from homemade fudge to unique wines, clothes and jewelry. More than 20 restaurants serve up everything from juicy burgers to marvelous seafood, BBQ and sushi.

If you like live performances, there's always something playing at The Palace and Legends In Concert. Up for a movie? Check out the Carmike Cinema Broadway 17 and its Big 3D theater.

You won't want to miss the spectacular sea life at Ripley's Aquarium, the amazing upside down adventure of WonderWorks, the intrigue of MagiQuest or the adrenaline-pumping go-karts at Broadway Grand Prix. If amusement rides are your thing, there are rides for adults and children at Pavilion Park. There's even a zip-line across Lake Broadway and putt-putt golf at Dragon's Lair. And when you're seeking an even bigger thrill, take flight with Helicopter Adventures and get your own bird's eye view of everything!

Broadway at the Beach is open from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. everyday throughout the summer. And, every Tuesday, there's a spectacular fireworks display over Lake Broadway at 10 p.m. Starting June 20, there are also fireworks on Friday evenings.

There's just nothing like Myrtle Beach and Broadway at the Beach for summer vacation fun!

Burger Time: The Superstar of Comfort Foods Rules In May

Posted in Dining

May is National Hamburger Month, a great time to celebrate and enjoy the juicy sandwich that we love. With the possible exception of the hot dog, no other food defines American summers.

If you've ever wondered just who invented this awesome comfort food, you're not alone. Perhaps we'll never know for sure. The U.S. Library of Congress says Louis Lassen invented the hamburger in New Haven, Conn., in 1900. But other states have laid claim to the invention including Wisconsin, Oklahoma, California, Ohio, New York and (of course) Texas.

But one thing's for sure. If you're looking for a great burger, you don't have to go any farther than Myrtle Beach. Broadway at the Beach is home to Johnny Rockets and "The Original Hamburger." That's the one-third pound burger that started it all for the restaurant in 1986. Rockets even has a cheeseburger that diners rate a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10!

If you like a little entertainment with your food, Rockets is the burger joint for you. The waitstaff of this 1950s-style diner will break into a song and dance routine when the music moves them.

Join in the fun. It's burger time!

Godzilla Invades Myrtle Beach!

Posted in Special Events, Attractions

He's the biggest, most terrifying monster of the modern age!

But when he first came on the scene in 1954, he wasn't all that scary with his stiff, puppet-like movements. Now, with today's digital technology, Godzilla's coming to life with a roar bigger than an angry ocean.

And there's no better place to get the full-on Godzilla experience than at BigD Theater at Broadway at the Beach.

Godzilla is now showing on the theater's huge wall-to-wall, 3-stories-tall giant screen that's 82 feet wide. The 2D version itself is an amazing experience. But in 3D, Godzilla leaps off the screen (and into your lap) in all his large format digital glory.

Whether it's 2D or 3D, when he roars in 7.1 surround sound, you'll feel like you're right in the middle of the on-screen action.

But you'll be kicking back in your luxury leather seat, trying to act all cool. After all, the movie is PG-13.
